One of the best parts about being surrounded by your favorite friends and their little girls is the inspiration that comes for kid-orientated projects. With Spring in the air and Easter just around the bend, I put together this simple kids bunny outfit that’s as cute as can be.
This simple kids DIY can be made in just under an hour with no more than fabric scraps and thread. I recommend fleece and jersey fabric so the edges don’t fray.
This is a great way to use an old hoodie and leggings before they’re out grown. I found this cute outfit on clearance at Target!
Materials
- white fleece fabric
- jersey fabric
- thread
- hoodie
- leggings
How to make the kids bunny outfit
The ears and tail can be sewn or pinned onto the hoodie and leggings so you can easily remove them if you prefer.
For the ears
Cut 4 pieces of fleece fabric in the shape of bunny ears. Cut 2 pieces of jersey fabric slightly smaller than the fleece ears.
Layer 1 piece of jersey fabric on top of 2 pieces of fleece. Pin and sew together.
Pin the ears to the hoodie. Check how the ears hang when the hoodie is both up and down. Adjust as needed. Sew in place making sure to secure the corners well.
For the tail
Cut 2 circles of fleece about 2 inches wide. Layer the 2 circles, pinch the tail piece and pin to hold. Sew a few stitches through the center of the tail to hold together.
Cut the extra fabric off the backside of the tail to allow the tail to sit flat on the butt.
Sew or safety pin the tail to the butt.
Throw this bunny outfit on a cutie pie like Della and send me a photo. :)

Hi! Its beautiful!! Did you sew the ear with a sewing machine or by hand?

Hi Cindy – I sewed these on by hand, but either method would work well.
