- Add the file to the canvas.
- Select the shapes you want to cut by turning the eye on or off in the layers panel.

- Insert the correct blade into the Cricut Maker.
- Prepare the StrongGrip mat with the leather right side down.
- Load the mat into the Cricut Maker and start cutting.

DIY Leather Key Fob Loop
The leather key fob loop is a simple strap with cut out hearts. It’s held together with a metal rivet and has a swivel clasp for hooking onto your key fob, keychain, or bag.

- leather (2oz – 4oz leather works great)
- 1 – 9mm double cap rivets
- 1 – 1/2″ swivel clasp
- double-sided leather tape

Cut the leather strap with heart cut outs. See the instructions above for cutting with your Cricut Maker or cutting leather by hand.
Add a small square of double-sided tape to both sides of the strap on the wrong side of the leather.
Fold the bottom of the strip so 1″ hangs over and tape to hold.
Slide the swivel clasp on the end, fold over, and tape to hold.
Punch a hole through the folded layers.
Set the rivet and you’re done.

Rivet Heart Leather Keychain
The rivet heart keychain has three leather heart layers that are riveted together. I think that this DIY keychain looks great with a ball chain, but any key ring will work.
Materials & Tools
- leather heart keychain PDF and SVG files (download above)
- rivet heart border paper template (to use for rivet placement)
- leather (2oz – 4oz leather works great)
- leather glue
- pen or leather pen
- 15 – 4.7mm double-cap rivets
- leather hole punch
- rivet press or rivet setting tools
Cut out the three rivet heart pieces. You’ll need one of each of the back, middle, and border pieces. See the instructions above for cutting with your Cricut Maker or cutting leather by hand.
Spread a thin layer of glue onto the back of the middle heart piece. Place the heart centered onto the backside of the back heart piece.
Add a thin layer of glue onto the backside of the border heart. Place the border onto the front side of the assembled middle and back pieces. Press the layers together to seal the edges. It helps if the glue is slightly tacky. Add some clips around the edges if needed.
Poke holes into the dots on the paper border heart template. Clip the border template onto the leather hearts and mark the rivet holes.
Punch holes through the leather layers.
Add rivets into the holes. Make sure to leave a hole open to add a ball chain (or other key ring).
This leather heart would make a great bag charm for any gal.

Leather Tassel Heart Keychain
The leather tassel heart keychain has contrast stitching and a nice long tassel. This one makes a great keychain or bag charm.
Materials & Tools
- leather heart keychain PDF and SVG files (download above)
- leather glue
- heavyweight thread
- basic sewing supplies and tools
Cut all pieces for the leather tassel heart keychain.
Onto the leather tassel piece, mark 1/8″ from the two top corners. Mark 1/8″ above the top of the tassel cuts.
Onto the hearts, mark where to pivot at the points. The bottom point is 1/8″ from the point, the downward pivot point at the top of the heart is 1/4″ down from the point. Sew around the perimeter of each heart with a 1/8″ seam allowance. Pull the threads to the back, knot, and add a dab of glue to secure the knots.
Sew along the marked lines, leaving long thread tails.
Pull the threads around the sides and knot on the back. Add a dab of glue to the knots to secure.
On one side of the tassel, measure 2 3/4″ down from the top and trim off the tassel fringe.
Add a thin layer of glue to the back of the leather tassel at the top (see picture). Fold the tassel piece over to create a loop.
Add more glue inside the loop and press it down to secure. Make sure a small loop for hanging is created at the top of the tassel.
Add a thin layer of glue along the top of the tassel piece and roll the leather to create the tassel. Make sure to tuck in any stray threads. Clip to hold and allow to dry.
Onto the backside of one heart, add a line of glue down the center. Place the thin leather strip so the end is centered on the heart.
Thread the strip into the loop on top of the tassel and onto the back of the heart so it creates a loop. Let the glue set to hold.
Add more glue onto the leather strip and press the strip flat so a loop is created on both the top and bottom (see pics).
Add a thin layer of glue all over the heart with the tassel attached and place the other heart on top. Clip to hold and let dry.
Add a key ring or chain to the top loop and clip it onto your keys.
I can’t decide which of these three DIY leather heart keychains is my favorite. Which one do you like?
