Looking for an easy t-shirt DIY project? Refashion a t-shirt into a fringe scarf and jazz up today’s outfit? Try this DIY fringe scarf that you can make in just a few minutes with scissors and an old t-shirt.
How to Make a T-Shirt Scarf
Grab an old t-shirt, any t-shirt will do. I like to use soft, worn cotton tees with fun prints.
For this DIY fringe scarf I used a white baby doll t-shirt with a silver and gray screen-printed image. I had been saving this t-shirt for years in my to-do-something-crafty-with-old-t-shirt-collection.
Cut off the bottom hem, arms, and neckline. (This time I cut a curve to get the most out of the print.) In the past, I’ve cut straight across under the arm holes so the final shape is a rectangle. Either way works great.
On the curved side, cut thin strips about half the way up the t-shirt. The more strips you cut, the more fringe you’ll have on your scarf.
DIY Upcycled T-Shirt Rug
Turn a pile of old t-shirt into a new DIY home decor piece.
Pull each strip individually to stretch the fringe and create that cool rolled look.
Stretch the entire scarf horizontally.
Upcycled Tote Bag from a Mini Skirt
See how I turned a thrifted mini skirt into a tote bag.
Wrap it twice or wear it loose. This t-shirt fringe scarf is lightweight and a great addition to any outfit.
Optionally you can tie knots, braid the strips, or even add beads to your fringe t-shirt scarf.

How wonderful! I have a t-shirt I wore once, spilled a little syrup on it and while in the dirty clothes basket one of the dogs chewed a hole in it. Brand new t-shirt with a hole in it! Now I can wear it for a long time as a fashion accessory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
